The Central Coast Chorale was founded in 1998 by a group of local residents who wanted to sing in a fun and friendly yet professional setting. The Chorale has about 50 singers and membership is open to anyone age 15 and up. The governing board of the Chorale is drawn from our singers. Community participation and input is always welcome.
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings at the Newport First Presbyterian Church. We perform an annual Holiday concert in December and concerts in the spring with varied content. In 2022 we collaborated with OCCA and hosted a holiday, public sing-along. Another sing-along is planned for the summer.
The chorale performs a wide variety of music from classical compositions like the Fauré Requiem to contemporary works such as Eric Whitacre’s Animal Crackers based on Ogden Nash’s humorous poetry. It’s always exciting to see what new and challenging works will be presented each season.
