Wheel of Light Embroidered Book
Wheel of Light combines embroidery with bookbinding.  Like the chakras, this wheel has seven rows of embroidery that radiate outward.  Embroidery is meditative, and the repetitive pattern of this piece is designed to bring calm and balance.  Students will first learn the basics of stitching on paper by practicing each embroidery stitch on card stock before embroidering on Mi-Tientes paper. On day 2, we’ll create our small book using Coptic and kettle stitch. Finished product: a small journal measure 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” with a non-adhesive exposed binding.

Students should bring: 32 sheets of text-weight paper, punching cradle (purchased, DIY, or old phone book), bone folder, craft cutting board, and an X-acto knife or rotary cutter to cut paper.
