The public is invited to view a free exhibition showcasing the work of seven talented instructors who will lead this year’s Newport Paper and Book Arts Festival (NPBAF). The “Instructors’ Show” will be on display in the Upstairs Gallery at Newport Visual Arts Center from March 1 – April 13, 2024.
Now in its 27th year, the NPBAF celebrates papermaking and manipulation, surface design, book arts, collage, and mixed media. The festival’s instructors are often most well-known for their teaching techniques, but their artwork – and the mediums they work in – are often far more varied.
This year’s instructors include Margo Klass (Book, Box, and Mixed Media Artist), Pietro Accardi (Book and Marbling Artist), Chris Bentley (Eco Print and Natural Dye Artist), Randi Parkhurst (Book, Box, and Mixed Media Artist), Rose James (Book Artist), Casey Newman (Botanical Print and Natural Dye Artist), and Sandi Reinke (Collage and Mixed Media Artist), and Connie Stricks (Paper and Book Artist).
An opening reception for the exhibit will take place on Friday, March 1st from 5–7pm, featuring music, wine, and refreshments. A closing reception featuring beverages and sweets will take place on Friday, April 12th from 5-6:30pm.
