A retrospective of paintings by Oregon painter Jerry Baron opens at Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay. Spanning over 30 years, the retrospective features works from 1980 through the present. The exhibit includes 65 paintings and 95 drawings. The artist’s works are colorful and often satirical in nature. Baron has had three one-person exhibits in the Jacobs Gallery at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts and has shown his paintings at Vita, Jamison Thomas, Forecast and Raindance galleries in Portland’s Pearl District. He has also exhibited his artwork in galleries or museums in Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Washington, and at Canon Beach, Sunriver and Portland University. He has donated several paintings to the Cascade Aids Benefit auction and Women’s Crisis Center, both in Portland. Baron is a former journalist serving over the course of 25 years as reporter, news editor, managing editor and publisher of the Coos Bay World in Coos Bay. His studio is located in the historic Citizen’s Building in North Bend.
