The public is invited to an opening reception for “Layered and Stitched: Selected Quilts from the Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild” from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 5 at the Newport Visual Arts Center. The exhibit includes work by 11 award-winning quilters and serves as a prequel to the guild’s 29th annual quilt show, Quilts by the Sea, held in Newport during the first week of August.
