The Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Ocean conducted by Adam Flatt performs Ernest Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1 with Katherine George on piano. The NSO then performs Franz Schubert’s Great C Major Symphony.
Maestro Flatt shares these thoughts, “Schubert’s C Major Symphony was first called “The Great” to distinguish it from another, smaller symphony in the same key. But the nickname has persisted at least as much as a description of the awesome majesty of the work. Come with us today as we scale this magnificent mountain together.”
There will be a pre-concert talk with Maestro Flatt at 6:45pm, Saturday night only. Join the NSO musicians, guest artist, and conductor after the concert for a reception hosted by Flying Dutchman Winery.
