Coastal Arts Guild (CAG) and Oregon Coast Council for the Arts are sponsoring a monthly drop-in figure drawing series, from February – November, 2023, at the Newport Visual Arts Center.
This is an opportunity for artists of various skill levels to experience figure drawing from life, with a live model. The model will be wearing fitted clothing and will begin with a series of quick gestures, followed by longer standing and seated poses. While the event will be facilitated by a CAG volunteer, who will be available to answer question, participants should note that there will be no formal instruction.

Newport Visual Arts Center
Standing easels will be provided, and there will be a limited number of spaces for seated drawing at table-top easels, for those unable to work while standing. Participants are also welcome to work while seated in a chair with a sketchbook in their lap. Newsprint, 18″ x 24″ drawing boards, and charcoal will be available for free, or you are welcome to bring your own paper, drawing board, sketchbook, and/or other drawing implements. Ink and watercolor are permitted. No oil or acrylic paint, and no media with a strong odor will be allowed.
There is no fee to attend this drop-in session; however, a $5-$10 donation to the Coastal Arts Guild is suggested (for those who can) to help cover the model fee.
