Artist Statement
Living on the Oregon coast, I find myself challenged to capture the colors of the varying coastal light as it reflects off the ocean, sand and rocks, or filters through the lush forests. My use of encaustics, watercolor on Yupo paper or soft pastels all allow for continual modifications as the painting develops.
Biography
Always an artist, I worked as a psychiatric nurse in the Midwest. Having a non-art career gave me a freedom to paint without depending on art for my income. One of the last highlights before leaving the area was being in a Ten Year Retrospective Show.
Upon retirement we moved to Bandon, Oregon, where I find inspiration in the southern Oregon coast seascapes and landscapes and the amazing coastal light.
