36th Annual Pushpin Show
36 years of celebrating community through the arts. Art exhibit open to all Lincoln County residents.
Opening Reception:
Sunday, December 6, 2-5pm
The opening reception will feature music and light bites, hot chocolate, and candy canes. Attendees will cast votes for the People’s Choice Award. Bragging rights and a $50 Blick Art Supply gift certificate will be given to the winner. Voting will continue through the first week of the show (until December 13).
For the 36th year, Oregon Coast Council for the Arts invites all Lincoln County residents to participate in The PushPin Show, held in the Runyan Gallery of the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC). Residents of all ages, experiences, and expressions are encouraged to bring one piece to hang in the place of their choosing on the walls of the Runyan Gallery.
The PushPin Show was conceived in 1990 by Waldport artist James Frankfort. The show’s graphic image by Frankfort himself remains in use today. Over the years, thousands of residents have shown their work in the Runyan Gallery, one of the largest galleries on the Oregon Coast. While showing work in a gallery space can seem intimidating, the VAC welcomes the whole community to submit and hang their creations without judgment. Creativity is intrinsic to our human nature, and yet sometimes we forget that. The PushPin Show honors that individual creativity by being fully inclusive, and celebrates visual arts regardless of age or experience.
Submitted artwork must be original and may not be AI-generated. Each piece must hang with four pushpins or fewer, and 3-dimensional work must be no larger than 6” x 6” at the base. Facsimiles or prints of original pieces will not be accepted, however photographs and human-created digital art prints are eligible. Most artists will hang their own work. The PushPin Show is a family-oriented community show, and therefore OCCA respectfully asks that submitted pieces be appropriate for audiences of all ages. (Pieces do NOT have to be offered for sale to be included in the show!)
