Celebrate and uplift rural queerness through creative expression!
Welcome to the Rural Queer Open Mic Tour – a traveling open mic by and for queers in rural spaces! Rural queers are invited to bring their talents, whether those be songs, stories, drag, poetry, prose, comedy, dance, karaoke, skits, or anything you imagine! Facilitated and organized by Dani, AJ, and Marika, three rural queer organizers and artists from Wallowa County, NE Oregon.
The night will open with a local queer performer and unfold with open mic time, a few songs from Dani and Marika of The Fruit Snaxxx (marikastrawmusic.com), and opportunities for group and anonymous participation. This event is to celebrate and uplift rural queerness through creative expression!
In the back, we’ll have candles and incense for purchase from the lovely The Girls of Riverwoods (Dani & AJ; www.facebook.com/thegirlsofriverwoods) as well as sliding-scale donation-based chair massages by licensed massage therapist AJ.
All of our events will include a safety plan, an opt-out option for folks who aren’t comfortable having their photo taken, and an opportunity for participants to connect with other participants from other rural locations.
