Combining Intuitive Drawing with Water-Based Paints
with Robin Berry
Saturday, February 14
11am-4:30pm (with half hour lunch break)
Adults and Youth 14+ (with adult)
In this workshop, we will utilize a variety of techniques to combine intuitive drawing with watercolor, gouache, or acrylic paint. We will begin by learning how to use paper, panels, or canvas grounds to mix mediums and mark-making tools, allowing for expressive exploration of color, line, and value. Following this, we will investigate color harmonies and composition terminology in a playful, pressure-free environment. This class is ideal for artists of all levels—ranging from complete beginners who wish to overcome their fear of starting to experienced painters who feel stuck in a creative rut. The emphasis will be on the meditative and self-expressive aspects of art-making to foster enjoyment without the pressure to achieve a predefined result.
Deadline to register is February 12

About the instructor: Robin has a lifelong creative hand—foremost in watercolor painting and sketching, and often in design, fiber art, weaving, or garden elements. Her approach is strongly influenced by small-town life in the coastal Pacific Northwest. While working in mapping and engineering, her art pursuits continued, often self-taught along with college classes or private workshops. She relocated to Seal Rock, Oregon, in 2021 and is active with the local creative community and plein air painting gangs and enjoys hiking, tinkering, and paddling.
