Bold Landscapes in Oils

In this class we will paint the Natural Bridges in Oregon, focusing on the bold contrast (and sneaky subtlety) between dark and light values. We will discuss the magic of uneven values in artwork. Each student will work on a panel that has been prepared with an underpainting, allowing us to finish the paintings in one day. We will spend the beginning of class mixing colors and testing strokes on scrap panels. Halfway through the painting process we will walk around and view our progress for questions and constructive feedback. The remainder of the class will be for each student to finish their piece with as much freedom or guidance as desired.

About the instructor: Khara has worked as a professional artist for 20 years with a history of murals, sign painting, miniatures and painting in oil, gouache and acrylic. She now resides in the PNW and is a member of the co-op gallery ForArtSake here in Nye Beach. She is generally excitable, curious and inclusive.
