Lisa Emond, retired doctor and costumer extraordinaire, will discuss her costuming passion at February’s Talk About Art, sponsored by the Coastal Arts Guild.  She will focus on the costumes that she has created for various historical reenactments with the Society for Creative Anachronism, Renaissance faires, and events based in the Regency era (picture Jane Austen novels!).

Some of the costumes that Lisa has created will be displayed, and she herself will model.  All those interested in costuming, design, sewing, and historical fashion and textiles, will be intrigued by her work.

Lisa started historical costuming at age 18 when she needed something for a Renaissance Faire. She found that she really enjoyed the process so started participating other historical events. Lisa has now been creating costumes for over 40 years, and she has made historically accurate garments ranging in styles from Ancient Greek to late Victorian. Locally, she assisted with the design and fabrication of costumes for Red Octopus Theatre Company’s 2024 production of Fiddler on the Roof.
