The Oregon Coast Youth Symphony Festival’s annual festival is April 17 & 18, 2026 with high school orchestras from Astoria, Pendleton, Bend, North Medford, Brookings-Harbor and McKay (Salem) performing each night along with a special performance by the University of Portland Orchestra on Friday night. The grand finale on Saturday is a mass orchestra of all 150 high school musicians under the baton of special guest conductor Soon Hee Newbold (pictured). Ms. Newbold is renowned classical music composer whose compositions have been a regular part of past Festival performances. This year she will conduct the orchestra repertoire with two of her compositions: Iliad and Gravitas.
