The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals

Red Octopus Theatre Company announces OPEN AUDITIONS for our spring production of “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” (music and lyrics by Jeff Blim, book by Nick & Matt Lang) on Sunday, October 18, and Tuesday, October 20. Directed by Milo Graamans, this production will perform in April 2027 at the Newport Performing Arts Center. Rehearsals begin in January.

Callbacks (if needed) will be held, by invitation only, on Sunday, October 25.

ALL ROLES ARE OPEN

Seeking strong actors and singers 18+. (Mature teenagers 16+ may audition with written consent of parent/guardian.) Please arrive on time and let the attendant know if you need to leave early. Please prepare to sing a cutting (no more than 60 seconds) of any song from this show. All other materials will be provided.

Please note: This show was originally performed with 8 actors playing all the roles. We may keep this breakdown, or we may expand the cast size, depending on audition turnout. We are not concerned with age, as the same actor may play multiple roles of different ages. While not every character is a singing role, all actors will be expected to sing.

Professor Hidgens — a biology professor and doomsday survivalist

Mr. Davidson — Paul’s boss and manager of CCRP tech department

Nora — Emma’s boss and owner of Beanie’s

Zoey Chambers — Emma’s manager and co-worker at Beanie’s

Alice Woodward — Bill’s teenage daughter

General John MacNamara — commander of military special unit P.E.I.P.

Melissa — Paul’s co-worker

Deb — Alice’s stoner girlfriend

Colonel Schaffer
