God of Carnage

While meeting to deal with the unruly behavior of their children, two couples’ polite veneers collapse into a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums, and shifting alliances. Kids will be kids, but adults can be worse – much worse.
New Visions Arts announces auditions for two leading women (playing age 30-50) for our Spring production of Yazmina Reza’s dark humor masterpiece and 2009 Tony Award Winner for Best Play “God of Carnage.” Directed by Marc Maislen, this production will perform in March 2027 at the Newport Performing Arts Center. Rehearsals begin in February.
AUDITION DATES AND LOCATION
Saturday, October 10 @ 5pm
OR Sunday, October 11 @ 11am, Newport Performing Arts Center, in the Ramona Martin rehearsal room (back bay entrance). Choose whichever day works best for you. The following roles are available…
Annette – Initially appearing polite and composed, Annette gradually reveals deep frustration and vulnerability. She tries to maintain order and civility, often acting as a mediator, but becomes increasingly overwhelmed—especially by her husband’s constant phone use and emotional detachment. As tensions rise, Annette’s facade cracks, exposing her insecurity and a desperate need to be heard.
Veronica – Determined to handle the boys’ conflict with maturity and moral seriousness, Veronica sees herself as a defender of values like responsibility, compassion, and cultural refinement. However, her self-righteousness and need for control gradually fuel the tension, and her calm exterior gives way to anger and condescension. As the situation unravels, Veronica’s ideals are exposed as fragile, revealing her capacity for the same pettiness she tries to rise above.
