I have a long-standing interest in the importance of place. For the last fifteen years my location on the Oregon coast has given me a view of nature in a fluid form.
The weather and the landscape are central to life here. As a former urban dweller, it has been an adjustment. That too has been food for my art practice.
The work I have selected and am interested in showing is about my life here in Oregon. These paintings and drawings have their emphasis in the forces of the water and land here. A great many focus on the water as it cascades down the cliffs and into many rivers.
No matter how representational or abstract the individual pieces are; my work never strays from reminding the viewer of the process of making art. This is a human endeavor that I believe is important in a world that seems to minimize the individual and contemplative voices.
