Dale was born on the Southern Oregon coast and spent his school years in Portland.
He attended Benson Technical High School specializing in woodworking.
After graduation he apprenticed to a cabinetmaker and later entered the construction trade as a carpenter apprentice. After working 22 years as a carpenter he formed a partnership and opened his own contracting business.
He was always an avid fisherman and hunter and it was only natural that he would incorporate his love of wildlife with his talent and love for wood.
Thus, in 2004 he became a self-taught artist that specialized in bird carvings.
He has received several awards from the South coast Woodcarver’s Show, Coastal Carver’s Annual Show, Coos Art Museum and Northwest Carvers Show.
He has resided back where he was born on the Southern Oregon Coast since 1958.
