The Pacific Ocean has been the constant and timeless thread throughout Renee L. Delight’s life. It was inevitable that the ocean has become the focus for her painting. Renee was fortunate to receive intensive training in classical realism at the Ashland Academy of Art in Ashland, Oregon. When the Academy relocated to a different state, she chose to settle on the Northern Oregon Coast to continue her artistic development.
The constant presence of the ocean in all its varying moods quickly drew Renee out of her cozy studio and into the outdoors. Renee found that when painting out in the elements, she is more able to capture Nature’s essence. She particularly loves to be out painting in stormy weather when the wind bites and the waves are wild. The untamed beauty of the Oregon Coast provides endless subject matter for her seascapes and landscapes.
Because of Renee’s strong passion for the environment and for nature, she is committed to painting solely from life. She does not paint from photo references. Renee paints en plein air, or she uses her plein air studies, to create her coastal compositions. Renee chooses her paint, supplies, and tools carefully. She does her best to use the least toxic and least harmful materials available. Renee also makes sure that her materials and tools do not contain animal products of any kind.
