I remember growing up as a young African American in Los Angeles and listening to my mother tell stories about the artist who created The Watts Towers. She said he spent countless hours walking through her neighborhood searching for junk to incorporate into his amazing structures. Her stories stuck with me and, after moving to Lincoln City fifteen years ago, I began collecting damaged ceramics, glass and metal objects to inspire me to create my own type of two and three-dimensional art.
As a self-taught artist, I marry different colors and textures together in a way that challenges me to stretch the boundaries of reality in my pieces, whether they be nautical, pop art or abstract in their subject matter.
Several of my works are on public display in Lincoln City and can be viewed at The North Samaritan Hospital as well as the northwest corner of 17th Street and Highway 101.
My art has also been featured in Lincoln City at Ryan’s Gallery, The Jennifer Seals Glass Studio and The Lincoln City Cultural Center.
