45 x 45 Show: Celebrating Creativity
Sponsored by the Coastal Arts Guild and American Easel
The Coastal Arts Guild seeks artists to purchase a cradled panel for $45, (sorry, all panels have been purchased) create a piece of art on it, then return it May 24-27 for display at the June 2 – July 30, 2023 exhibit “Celebrating Creativity” at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC). Artists keep all proceeds from the sale of their artwork with no commission. Funds from the sale of the panels go towards improving lighting throughout the VAC.
RULES FOR ENTRY
The show is open to all and will be juried once hung with prizes and awards.
Accepted mediums: all physical painting and drawing media, photography, mixed media and 3D work as long as the work fits within the panel dimensions.
All works must be created on the 10” x 10” x 1 5/8” cradled panels available at VAC.
Artwork must be original to the artist and must not have previously exhibited in the VAC gallery.
The Gallery reserves the right to reject artwork that crosses acceptable boundaries. This would include misogynistic or racist imagery, depiction of extreme violence or graphic sexuality, and objectionable political or religious imagery.
Piece must be priced at $250 or less. No commission will be charged. Funds will be collected from buyers and then dispersed to artists within 30 days of the end of the exhibition. The artist and buyer will arrange delivery/shipping costs.
Work that is sold will remain on exhibit for the entire duration of the show and the artist may not arrange for the work to be sold outside the VAC during that time.
Artists will deliver and collect their pieces during designated take-in and pick-up hours. There is a $10 storage fee (per piece) for late pick-ups.
Follow all of the finishing guidelines:
No wet paint. Total presentation must be clean and free from lint, hair, spots, fingerprints, and scratches.
Cradled panels should not be framed, but panel edges must be clean and finished. No staples or blobs of glue showing.
The VAC Center staff will attach all hanging hardware and wire.
Bring your Artwork Consignment Form when you deliver your work to the VAC.
Each piece must be labeled on the front and back with the Artist’s name, contact information, and the title of the work. Labels are available at the VAC or upon request.

Please attach a label to the front and back of your piece. The back label can be your business card or the form below. This is for your customer and to identify the piece after the exhibit. The front label is for the installation people so they can identify your work for the official gallery label.
