ART ON THE EDGE Studio Tour of the Central Oregon Coast is a self-guided tour of the studio spaces of well known, coastal visual artists for the weekend of May 20th, 21st, 22nd, 2022. The studio sites range in location from Neskowin to Newport and east to Toledo, Oregon. These artists will show off their exclusive locations, demonstrate their creative processes and sell their work. This year the tour includes a great variety of medium: oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, mixed media, encaustic, metal sculpture and casting, driftwood furniture, handmade jewelry, fused glass, glass blowing, clay and ceramic art, photography, weaving, mosaic, colored pencil art, reclaimed assemblage art and printmaking, fabric arts and more.
Chasse Davidson, Kara Shapiro, Liz Fox, Phishybee studios, Moe Snyder
The six artists participating in Art on the Edge at the Newport Visual Art Center have diverse styles, but are similarly inspired by nature and find creating is therapy. Kara Shapiro and Chasse Davidson make beautiful, wheel-thrown functional pottery that echoes their surroundings on the coast. Liz Fox hand-builds her ceramic sculptural and functional pieces. Phishybee Studios creates carvings inspired by nature and prints them on hand torn paper. Artist Moe Snyder creates extraordinary boxes, books and other items.
They will be demonstrating different aspects of their creative techniques in the second floor classroom at the Newport Visual Arts Center, where a community clay education center has been recently reestablished.
