From Idea to Final Product: Designing and scaling up your fiber art project
with Vince Zettler
Saturday, February 15, 1-4pm
Adults & Youth 14+ (with adult)
$30 (materials provided)

Take an idea or concept for an art piece and learn to develop that into a final product whether that is a rug, painting, weaving or pictorial quilt. This class will help students figure out what scale they prefer to work at. You will create a small simplified drawing and then learn how to use the materials and tools necessary to scale that drawing up to full size giving you the confidence to create larger finished pieces of art.

All class materials will be provided. If students can come prepared with an art project in mind to scale up during the class, that would be helpful.

Vince Zettler was Preparator / Curator at the Corvallis Arts Center in the 1970’s / 80’s. He was the Registrar / Curator of the Benton County Museum in the 1980’s and 90’s. He has taught as an adjunct art and design instructor at the U. of O., OSU, and Western Oregon University.

For Vince, going outside and moving through nature is what feeds his spirit. The quality of light and how it touches everything is what he strives to bring to his work, whether it is weaving, drawing, painting, or collage. Mr. Zettler is a loom weaver, mostly known for his architecturally scaled weavings. His recent work is woven in a technique called “Brocaded, Staggered Gauze”, a true gauze made with a space-dyed bamboo warp and layered with a brocade of mixed fibers.

This class is part of FIBER FEST, running January 11 to March 1, 2025 – celebrating fiber arts and artists with exhibits, demonstrations, and classes throughout two buildings and across four galleries.
