This seminar format workshop is for those who want to expand their approaches to drawing and incorporate a sketchbook practice into their creative thinking.
We will draw from prompts that will help us develop our visual thinking as we create, followed by discussion of the experience. Some exercises may incorporate collage, writing, and mixed media. We will explore representation, drawing from our imagination, and non-representational modes of drawing. Students will be invited to bring their own drawing subjects, though still-life materials will also be available. Optional reading and take-home exercises will help us consider drawing more deeply and develop a regular sketchbook practice. This workshop is designed to be a welcoming space in which everyone can explore drawing and learn from one another. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas, strategies, and challenges to share with the group. Materials list: Sketchbook and drawing tools.
