Tash Wesp turns fiber into magic. Her fantastic designs and color sense have captivated fiber arts enthusiasts throughout Oregon. A master felter, Wesp is dedicated to endless experimentation and mastery of process. This exhibit emphasizes the vast felting and dying techniques – such as Nuno, wet, and needle felting, and acid, ice dyes, and eco prints – that she employs in her hats, clothing, wall hangings, and more.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, January 16, from 3-6pm, featuring light refreshments and music.
To help ensure an enjoyable experience for all, we kindly encourage guests to consider attending fragrance-free in support of those with allergies and sensitivities.
FIBER FEST, running January 10 to February 28, 2026 – celebrates fiber arts and artists with exhibits, demonstrations, and classes.
Hi, my name is Tash Wesp, a fiber artist who has always loved color, texture and creativity in all forms. My story began in the arts as a circus performer in San Francisco, I spent nearly 20 years performing throughout Europe and America. In the early 1990s, I came to Newport through a grant to teach at risk youth, circus arts-and I’ve called Newport home ever since.
About 30 years ago, I began exploring fiber arts, starting with knitting and sewing, and eventually discovering felting. I’ve studied with artists from around the world and have continued to grow my craft, creating unique handmade clothing, bags, scarves, and other wearable art. My work now includes the vibrant technique of ice dyeing.
Fiber art has become my true passion-an art form in itself that continually inspires me to experiment, learn, and share beauty through texture and color. I have sold in Galleries and Art shows but currently I sell my work at the Oregon Country Fair, and locally at the Newport Farmers Market, choosing once again to directly connect with the local people.
