Johnson’s oil and acrylic paintings, “Flowers and Faces,” will be on display from February 3-25. The First Friday opening reception will be on February 3, 5-7pm, with an artist talk scheduled for 6:30pm.

Patti Johnson was raised on the East Coast and moved to the Newport area in 1976. She has been painting and teaching at the Newport Visual Arts Center, through the Yaquina Art Association (YAA) for over 40 years and currently facilitates the YAA’s weekly class in oil and acrylics painting. Patti credits her parents for teaching her the art of painting and has taken various workshops and college courses along the way to hone her craft. Johnson has been featured in two Spotlight Shows through the YAA (2013, 2015). Her paintings focus on flowers and portraits, or, as she says, “anything beautiful.”

“We are excited to recognize Patti Johnson and her talent in oils and acrylics with her first solo exhibit at the Newport Visual Arts Center,” says OCCA VAC director Tom Webb. “Patti’s control of paint and color is impressive. She shares her love of painting ever week here at the VAC through the YAA’s free classes.”

The Upstairs Gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday, noon to 4pm.
