The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts is pleased to present the 20th Newport Paper Arts Festival (NPAF), April 17-19, at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) and other locations around Newport. Registration is now open for the popular three-day event, regarded as the largest paper arts festival on the Pacific Coast. Twelve instructors will lead 18 full-day workshops in fields such as decorative book binding, surface design, collage, monoprinting, photo-transfer and nature printing.
An Instructors Exhibit will be on display in the Upstairs Gallery at the VAC from March 6-April 19 (noon-4pm, Tu-Sa), and a book and DVD signing will take place on Friday, April 17, 5:15pm at the VAC. The Instructors Show exhibit will open with a reception on March 6, 5-7pm at the VAC.
“The Newport Paper Arts Festival has reached a new milestone,” says Tom Webb, manager of the Newport Visual Arts Center. “Twenty years is a long time for any festival, and we work hard each year to keep the workshops fresh and accessible.”
The festival brochure and registration form can be downloaded from the OCCA website (/events/2015/04/newport-paper-arts-festival-xx/). Copies of the brochure and registration form are being made available locally at the Newport Chamber of Commerce, For Art Sake Gallery, the Visual Arts Center, the Performing Arts Center, the Lincoln City Cultural Center and Back Street Gallery (Florence). Interested attendees are encouraged to register soon as room in each workshop is limited.
“The energy level at the Newport Paper Arts Festival is awesome,” says returning instructor Cheri Aldrich. “Every year we meet new people who became part of the NPAF art family.”
