The Jay Flewelling Comedy Showcase brings a rotating lineup of some of Portland’s most talented comedians to Newport, Oregon for a three-part series packed with laughs. Each show features a fresh mix of stand-up, sketch, and unexpected surprises—spotlighting the diverse voices and styles that make Portland one of the Northwest’s top comedy hubs.

A Portland-based comedian, Jay Flewelling showcases his broad comedic prowess in several different rodeos around town. Jay is a main stage fixture at Curious Comedy Theater, and performs in the wildly popular improv troupe, J Names (SF Sketchfest, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Vancouver International Improv Festival). In addition to being a performer, Jay is also an award-winning filmmaker and producer. His most notable produced film short won Best in Humor at Dan Savage’s HUMP! Film Festival in 2017.
There are many facets to Jay’s comedic talents. Though a comedic performer at heart, he has also made a name for himself through his outstanding and compelling storytelling skills. Jay has been featured on NPR’s LIVE WIRE!, Kevin Allison’s RISK!, Mortified , and has performed with Kevin McDonald (The Kids in the Hall) and Colin Mochrie (Who’s Line is it Anyway?).
To add to the ever growing list of accomplishments, Jay is also a published author. His autobiographical collection of hilarious essays and stories, Please Underestimate Me, was released in 2017, and soon after was adapted into a “one man show” of the same name, receiving many accolades. Alongside this success, Jay is also a popular and sought after instructor, teaching improv classes in Portland and across the US and Canada.
Kyle Adams
Road-testing his set all over the West Coast, Kyle Adams is becoming a household name in the Pacific Northwest comedy scene. With a unique blend of relatable goofiness and intelligent wit, he effortlessly connects with audiences. Life’s hardships have molded his perspective, but Kyle keeps it light, offering an optimistic outlook that resonates with everyone. Kyle has recently performed at Bergamot Comedy Fest, The Crow, Sactown Comedy Getdown, Laughs Unlimited, Seattle International Comedy Competition, And Chocolate Sundaes, and The Laugh Factory – Hollywood.
Imani Denae
Portland-based comedian Imani Denae’s sharp observations and fearless social commentary have earned praise from Vulture and Katt Williams. She’s a regular performer across the Pacific Northwest, has opened for Roy Wood Jr., Nicole Byer, Josh Johnson, and Maria Bamford, and was a finalist in the Don’t Tell Comedy Competition.
Naomi Fitter
Naomi escaped from Ohio at the age of 22. Her soothing midwestern voice has been described as “sexy,” “librarian-like,” and “nearly inaudible.” She has opened for Aparna Nancherla, Laurie Kilmartin, and Whitney Cummings and performed in the All Jane Comedy Festival. Naomi runs her shows Naughty but Nerdy and Singu-hilarity all over the West Coast, and she has been featured on the NPR-distributed show Live Wire with Luke Burbank and the Dork Forest with Jackie Kashian. Her comedy was also featured in TIME Magazine.
