The Jay Flewelling Comedy Showcase brings a rotating lineup of some of Portland’s most talented comedians to Newport, Oregon for a three-part series packed with laughs. Each show features a fresh mix of stand-up, sketch, and unexpected surprises—spotlighting the diverse voices and styles that make Portland one of the Northwest’s top comedy hubs.

Three nights (June 14, August 16, November 8) with new performers each time. Come for one, or catch them all—because no two shows are the same!

A Portland-based comedian, Jay Flewelling showcases his broad comedic prowess in several different rodeos around town. Jay is a main stage fixture at Curious Comedy Theater, and performs in the wildly popular improv troupe, J Names (SF Sketchfest, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Vancouver International Improv Festival). In addition to being a performer, Jay is also an award-winning filmmaker and producer. His most notable produced film short won Best in Humor at Dan Savage’s HUMP! Film Festival in 2017.

There are many facets to Jay’s comedic talents. Though a comedic performer at heart, he has also made a name for himself through his outstanding and compelling storytelling skills. Jay has been featured on NPR’s LIVE WIRE!, Kevin Allison’s RISK!, Mortified , and has performed with Kevin McDonald (The Kids in the Hall) and Colin Mochrie (Who’s Line is it Anyway?).

To add to the ever growing list of accomplishments, Jay is also a published author. His autobiographical collection of hilarious essays and stories, Please Underestimate Me, was released in 2017, and soon after was adapted into a “one man show” of the same name, receiving many accolades. Alongside this success, Jay is also a popular and sought after instructor, teaching improv classes in Portland and across the US and Canada.


 

Alexandra Disney is a stand-up comedian, improviser, and member of Portland’s premier drag king boy band XXXY. A recent finalist in the Portland Comedy Pageant, she has been doing stand-up comedy since she was 3-years-old in an effort to get her parents to pay attention to her once her baby brother was born. When not onstage, she’s hanging with her dog Monty and watching reality TV shows on Peacock.

 


 

Ben Harkins is a Portland based comic. His unsweetened perspective and deadpan delivery have made him an audience favorite throughout the PNW. His irreverent material attacks everything from the cost of groceries to the extinction of species. Harkins won the Portland’s Funniest person contest at Helium and was voted #1 in Willamette Weeks Funniest Five. He is a regular host at Helium and has performed in the Bridgetown, SF Sketchfest and Savage Henry Comedy festivals, among others. Harkins has opened for many pros including Paulie Shore, Beth Stelling, Kyle Kinane and Joe List. He hosts Chill N Fill Comedy every Thursday 8pm. He also directed and produced a hit Soap Opera called Intrigue- Public Access Soap Opera.

 


 

Brett Sisun is a Portland multimedia comedian. He works with stand up, character acts, and powerpoint presentations to create rich and bizzare moments of hilarity that explore the joy and shadow side of the spirit. Well known for his outrageous characters including The Oracle of Boca Raton, Timothee Chalamet (as Bob Dylan) and Bob Roast, he hosts a very popular late night tuxedo comedy show in Portland called Martini Tonight. He has performed at the Portland Sketch Festival, the Austin Sketch Festival, the Denver Sketch Festival, the Oregon Country Fair as well as all around the Pacific Northwest.
