In April 2020, the Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary! As a fundraiser to support and celebrate the festival, the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts is offering, Making Art Cards, a workshop led by Cheri Aldrich, a local artist and longtime festival participant.
The Making Art Cards workshop will be Saturday October 19 at the Newport Visual Arts Center, with two sessions to choose from: 9am-noon and 1-4pm. The workshop registration fee is $50 plus a $5 materials fee. Workshop participants only need to bring a glue stick, scissors, ruler and pencil! The registration from can be found at https://forms.gle/4sCtCs4RJ9qEG5w56. Class size is limited to 20 per session. Registration closes October 14.
Cheri Aldrich is donating her time and instructor fees for these two workshops. “I have a great fondness for this festival. I have been involved as a participant, an instructor, and for many years as a coordinator or consultant. It’s been a joy to watch it grow into a popular much-loved annual event,” Aldrich says. “The energy from this event inspires many to make art. By doing some fundraising, we will be able to expand our budget allowing us to add a fourth day to the 2020 festival.”
Special thanks to Cheri Aldrich for her time, donation and dedication to the Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival. Other festival supporters and participants will soon be provided with opportunities to become “Friends of the Festival,” lending their support to the project’s long-term sustainability.
