“To reach the unreachable star – what a soaring aspiration for an indestructible dreamer, and what a glorious summation for a bold and beautiful new musical.” Norman Nadel wrote these words when “Man of La Mancha” opened on Broadway in 1965. It went on to win 5 Tony Awards that year, inspiring Rolling Stone to print, “Man of La Mancha has a heart that sings and a spirit that soars.”

The story of the mad knight Don Quixote jousting windmills and righting the wrongs of the world has captured the hearts and imagination of readers since Miguel de Cervantes shared his tale in the 1600’s. Dale Wasserman was inspired to write the play and then collaborated with Joe Darion for lyrics and music by Mitch Leigh.

Director Cyn Wilkes has put together a cast and crew to engage your imagination and transport you to the Spanish prison that holds Cervantes, his humble man-servant and the prisoners of the Inquisition to present the fantastical world of Don Quixote.

This is a musical for the heart and for the mind. A story of a man struggling to come to terms with the harsh reality around him and reinvents his own reality—his own idealism. Life as it could be, or even, life as it should be.
