Oregon Coast Council for the Arts is pleased to announce the 3rd annual “Member Show” exhibition – featuring the diverse work of OCCA’s member artists.

The show will feature a fresh and eclectic mix of materials and styles, and all pieces will be original works of art by OCCA members – created within the last three years – that have not previously been exhibited at the VAC. This year’s show is expected to include work by artists of all skill levels, in mediums to include paint, fiber, ceramics, photography, mixed media, collage, and more.

This exhibit will be on display in the Runyan Gallery at Newport Visual Arts Center from March 7- April 27, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, March 7, from 5pm-7pm. (Enjoy light refreshments and musical entertainment by Barbara Turrill.)

(This must be filled out and accompany your artwork)

Who can submit?
Any current OCCA Member. If you’re not currently a member, it’s easy to start a new membership or update/renew a past membership when you drop off your artwork.

What can you submit?
Each member may submit 1 (one) original work of art created within the last three years. Any media may be submitted, including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, photography, fiber, jewelry, sculpture, and more.

What can’t you submit?
Work that is not your own original artwork, work that was created more than three years ago, work that has previously been exhibited at the VAC, work generated using AI, and/or reproductions (giclées, photocopies, computer-generated copies, etc.) are not eligible.

Requirements:
Pieces must be finished and show-ready / gallery-ready on delivery. Two-dimensional entries must not exceed 4′ in length or width, including frame, and must be wired and ready to hang (i.e. with screw eyes and steel wire). Sawtooth hangers, “clip” frames, and/or unstable frames cannot be accepted. Sculptural work must fit through a standard doorway. Some pedestals are available, or the artist may supply their own. Diptychs and triptychs (works created in two or three sections) will be considered as one entry.

We encourage you to submit a work of art that you’d like to offer for sale. You have the option of being paid for the sale of the item (less 35% gallery commission), or donating the entire sale price of the item to the Newport Visual Arts Center.

NOTE: All artwork delivered to the gallery must be wired for hanging with d-hooks and plastic coated wire. Do not use string or plastic line. The D-hook is the required hardware for gallery hanging. Wire your frame at about one third of the vertical height and ensure that the wire is taut. If you screw the D ring into the stretcher bar or frame too close to the edge, there is a large risk you will split the wood resulting in the screw pulling away and the painting falling to the floor. Damage to the painting is likely. Please don’t use sawtooth hangers or eye hooks. Saw tooth hangers are ineffective in a public gallery setting and they caused paintings to be knocked off the wall until we discontinued them. Eye hooks can damage other paintings in storage and/or cause damage to the gallery walls. Please wire your work with the required d-hooks.
