Massenet’s tale of passion, excess, and their consequences stars rising soprano Lisette Oropesa in the effervescent title role of “Manon,” at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 26 at the Newport Performing Arts Center’s Alice Silverman Theatre. Screened live in HD from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the event is hosted locally by Dorothy Black Crow.

Maurizio Benini conducts Laurent Pelly’s enchanting production, with tenor Michael Fabiano as Manon’s ardent admirer, the Chevalier des Grieux. Run time is approximately 4 hours and 5 minutes, with two intermissions; read a synopsis from the Met.

The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD series is made possible by a generous grant from the Neubauer Family Foundation. OCCA thanks the Jeannette B. Hofer Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation, the City of Newport, season benefactors Bill and JoAnn Barton, opera hosts, OCCA members and local opera fans for their continuing support.

Season tickets are available at 541-265-2787 for $195 per person adult or $165 per person senior. Reserved seating ticket prices are $21.50 general, $18.50 senior, and $10.50 student. Call the box office at 541-265-2787 to buy tickets; purchase tickets online or from the PAC box office.
