Intro to Nighttime Photography

Adults (or youth 16+ with adult)
In this 4-week course, Jeremy will teach students how to master nighttime photography. Students completing this course will be comfortable planning, shooting, processing, and presenting nighttime targets ranging from the Milky Way, the moon and deep sky objects to star fields, star trail, meteors, and Northern lights.
All skill levels are welcome!
Students will need a camera and a wide-angle (8 – 35mm) lens. A laptop with image processing tools is preferable, however, if you don’t have one or are unable to bring it the instructor will demo from their laptop and share with students to try out concepts.

About the instructor:Jeremy Likness is a professional astrophotographer based in Newport who creates fine art from nighttime photography. Jeremy is an experienced mentor, coach, leader, and instructor. In 2004, Jeremy became a certified fitness trainer and specialist in performance nutrition and built a pioneering online fitness practice using innovative approaches including launching a podcast before they were a well-known medium and conducting virtual tele-seminars. He sold the business in 2007 to join an Atlanta-based startup (AirWatch, formerly known as Wandering WiFi) and, as the third employee, built their technology infrastructure and enterprise software. The company was later acquired by VMWare for over one billion dollars. Jeremy built a multimillion-dollar software consulting practice from the ground-up for managed services company iVision before joining Microsoft, where he flew around the world and presented in stadiums, iMax theaters, and conference centers to tens of thousands of developers across the world in locations like Bulgaria, Canada, England, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, and the United States. Jeremy’s clients describe him as motivational, inspirational, and uniquely capable of taking extremely complex problems and processes and breaking them down into simple, easy-to understand steps.
