Treasure Books
Treasure books are based on traditional Zhen Xian Bao (Chinese Thread Books) but go beyond the traditional format. Zhen Xian Bao are made up of layers of folded pockets of different sizes in a portfolio-style cover. In this one-day class, students will learn and practice four traditional pocket forms and try different methods for making them. Then, they will work on making books with both hard and soft covers in different sizes, closures, and numbers and arrangements of pockets.

Students should bring: Beads, cords, or any special papers that they would like to incorporate into their book.

Belinda Hill loves creating and teaching. After she left full-time work as a teacher, she had more time to create — and has spent the last seven years working with book arts. She started this work by spending several years learning various book structures, incorporating her many years working in mixed media. In the last few years, she has taught bookmaking in monthly classes and workshops in the Olympia, Washington area, as well as in workshops for PSBA.
