Structure Boot Camp
If you’re new to the world of artist’s books or ready for a refresher, this briskly paced class will leave you full of ideas. We’ll explore at least 8 dynamic book forms that will serve as a library of structural models you can revisit again and again. Along the way, we’ll look at how structure can support (or subvert) concepts in a way that elevates your artist’s books.
Students should bring: Cutting mat (small is fine), Scissors, Bone folder, Metal ruler, Straight needle awl or pin vise, Teflon bone folder (optional)

Roberta Lavadour‘s artist’s books and design bindings have been widely exhibited across the United States and beyond. Her exploration of the book form includes study in workshop settings with leaders in the field and more than 30 years of independent investigation. Her work is marked by a rampant curiosity and explores everything from estate sale finds to her tangled family history. She has presented at venues across the country, including Paper and Book Intensive, Focus on Book Arts, and the Guild of Book Workers Standards of Excellence Seminar.
