Oregon Coast Council for the Arts and the City of Newport invite the community to participate in the dedication of new murals at the Nye Beach Pump Station. The Nye Beach Pump Station is located immediately east of the Newport Visual Arts Center, 777 NW Beach Drive, Newport. The dedication will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 2:15 P.M.
The mural on the east side of the building, by Ken Spencer, is a rendering of an historical postmark from Newport. The mural on the west side of the building is a rendering of a banner, from the Nye Beach Banner Project, originally painted by Shelby Mavity (pictured at right). Both artists will be in attendance at the dedication.
This dedication is an activity of the Newport Public Arts Committee of which OCCA VAC Director Tom Webb is a member and OCCA Executive Director Catherine Rickbone is the chair.
A reception will follow at the Visual Arts Center.
