Drunken Caramel Bread Pudding and a staged reading of Sam Shepard’s classic American Play “True West”, directed Ron Miller and presented by Red Octopus Theatre Company as part of the OCCA’s “One Night Delights” play reading series. Dueling Bread Pudding with Whipped Crème Fraîche and Drunken Caramel provided by Zach’s Bistro.

ABOUT THE PLAY
Sons of a desert-dwelling alcoholic and a suburban wanderer clash over a film script. Austin, the achiever, is working on a script he has sold to producer Sal Kimmer when Lee, a demented petty thief, drops in. He pitches his own idea for a movie to Kimmer, who then wants Austin to junk his bleak, modern love story and write Lee’s trashy Western tale.

Finalist – 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

“True West has arguably become Shepard’s signature piece, the leanest, most pointed of his full-length works.” – David Krasner, A Companion to Twentieth Century American Drama.

ONE NIGHT DELIGHTS are one-night-only live staged readings where the selected play is paired with a ‘delight’ – a delectable dessert or savory dish for the audience to enjoy. The absence of elaborate sets and costumes puts the focus on the performers’ oral interpretation of the words, making this a fabulous way to truly savor a playwright’s work… and a tasty refreshment at intermission is included with the price of admission!

TICKETS: Just $15 plus fees.

All proceeds benefit the remodel of the David Ogden Stiers Theatre at the Newport Performing Arts Center, as part of the “Entertain the Future!” Capital Campaign launched by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts.
