This profound philosophical meditation on compassion and reconciliation returns to the big screen. The transcendent production renders a medieval knight’s heroic quest for the Holy Grail. François Girard helms the celebrated staging. The New York Times praises it as a “thoughtful and intrepid staging, full of striking imagery.”
Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts a cast of Wagnerian superstars. Tenor Piotr Beczała sings the title role, with mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča as the enigmatic Kundry. Baritone Peter Mattei portrays the ailing Amfortas. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green plays the sorcerer Klingsor, alongside bass Jongmin Park as the wise Gurnemanz.
Streamed live in HD, as it happens, from the Metropolitan Opera stage to the big screen at the Newport Performing Arts Center’s Alice Silverman Theatre.

About the Newport Performing Arts Center
