QUILTS BY THE SEA II: WORK BY OREGON COASTAL QUILTERS GUILD
“Quilts by the Sea II,” sponsored by Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, will showcase unique quilted items for home decorating and display and personal garments made by a number of talented guild members through December 29 at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC).
Limitless patterns in myriad colors are inspirational and functional as well. A variety of pieces will be for sale.
The Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild was founded in February 1991 to promote fellowship among quilters; to promote knowledge and appreciation of quilts and quilt making through educational programs and meetings; and to sponsor and support quilting activities.
The guild has an annual calendar filled with activities including monthly general meetings, friendship group meetings around the county, Block of the Month, workshops and demonstrations, quilting retreats, and two annual potlucks.
Guild members participate in “Community Quilts,” making quilts for those in need in Lincoln County; participate in the “Pillow Project,” making pillows for patients at the hospital; and collect pet beds and pet bed bedding for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. Guild members also follow a Big Sister program for new members.
