The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts is pleased to present the exhibit “Fabric of Nature,” by Sue Friesz, in the Olive Street Gallery at the Newport Performing Arts Center.
The exhibit will run through December 31 and includes three 8’ murals and three 2’ drawings based on native plants. Friesz describes herself as a Pacific Northwest artist who invents her own visual language from observations of nature. Her contemporary drawings and paintings reveal an interest in the aesthetics and structure of trees and plants plus a concern for the changes she sees happening in our environment. Craftmanship is also an important element in her work.
This summer Friesz spent a month at Jentel, an art residency located near Sheridan, Wyoming. Friesz maintains a studio in Newport, Oregon.
