Up From the Ashes honors and shares the stories from the Echo Mountain fire complex and its aftermath, exploring the human conditions of grief, loss, healing regrowth, compassion and selflessness in the face of this terrible local disaster.

It is first and foremost a collection of stories, the difficult impact on the lives of so many community members is immense and continues to be a struggle even 2 years later. This exhibit strives to tell and preserve these stories and also to show the shimmering light of hope and rebirth and how far this brave and resilient community has come. This exhibit includes objects pulled out of the ashes and photography by Bruce MacGreger, who approached this project with all of his heart and skill to captures some very powerful moments.

Stories are powerful and art is healing.

When this exhibit concludes, all of the stories, much of the photography and some of the items form the fire will be donated to the North Lincoln County Historical Museum for preservation and a future exhibit.

Thank you to the Lincoln City Cultural Center for the exhibit loan.
