Oregon Coast Council for the Arts welcomes Barbara Krystoff-Scott to the Runyan Gallery for an exhibition of “Visions II”, a series of paintings. An opening reception was held on Friday, June 6, from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Each September, since 2003, Barbara Krystoff-Scott has created “Silent Tribute” on the lawn of the Del Mar Powerhouse Community Center in Del Mar, California, to honor the victims in the September 11, 2001 bombings of the New York Trade Center Towers. With the help of volunteers, Krystoff-Scott places 3,000 flags in a pattern on the lawn. A memorial service is held in the evening with the playing of “Taps.”
Krystoff-Scott is a member of Combined Organizations for the Visual Arts in San Diego and a founding member of the Del Mar Cultural Art Committee. She resides part of the year in Del Mar and the other half of the time she spends on the coast in Yachats. She taught painting classes at the Del Mar Library and has shown her work in many exhibitions on the West Coast.
A painting and a 9/11 poem are in the permanent collection at the Pentagon. In 2010, she had a show of original illustrations and a book signing for her children’s book, “Tale of the Pea Pods”, at the Siuslaw Public Library Gallery in Florence.
An artist and performer, Krystoff-Scott taught performing arts at the Pasadena Civic Ballet for three years, three years for the San Diego Civic Ballet, and three years in a private studio. She owned Stratford School of Dance for six years and choreographed, performed and lectured. She has also performed as a soloist for the Ballet Society and Palomar College.
The exhibit runs from June 6 through July 27, 2014. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
