The Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival, and its sponsor, the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) mark an impressive milestone this year: in 2020 the festival celebrates its 25th season – a quarter-century of growing and nurturing the field of paper and book arts! Thank you for being a part of this creative journey.
OCCA has planned several new ways to make the anniversary special:
- Expanding the event from three to four days, offering 21 workshops by 13 outstanding instructors in paper and book arts.
- Presenting the Newport Paper & Book Arts Invitational exhibition, inviting works by all current and past festival instructors, showing in the Runyan Gallery April 7 through May 30, 2020.
- Hosting special gatherings and historical presentations during the Festival’s 25th year.
Another new development is the formation of the Friends of the Festival, a new group of supporters. Friends of the Festival contribute to NPBAF sustainability and development, ensuring the festival can meet its future needs and maintain its quality and breadth – serving participants and instructors alike. OCCA will be looking to offer scholarships and other learning opportunities as well.
Membership in Friends of the Festival comes with a donation of as little as $50. Benefits begin at a 5% discount on registration fees for festival workshops. Donations are tax-deductible. Please visit the NPBAF donation page and choose the Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival under “Program” to see the options for levels of support and details about benefits at each level.
Cheri Aldrich, one of the festival’s pioneers, recently donated her time to lead a workshop as a benefit for the Friends of the Festival. The workshop raised over $1,500 on behalf of the Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival. We invite you to join Cheri and other members of the Advisory Council in showing your support as a Friend of the Festival during this 25th season of enriching lives and community through creativity.
You can also send checks payable to OCCA, with “VAC/Friends of the Festival” in the note line, to OCCA, PO Box 1315, Newport, OR 97365.
As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at NPBAF in 2020!
