Located in Newport, on the Central Coast of Oregon, we pride ourselves on creating a space where creativity flourishes and joy is cultivated. Whether you’re taking your first dance steps or refining advanced techniques, our studio is your home for artistic growth.
Originally, Teri Jernigan’s Dance! And All That Jazz! (DAATJ) was established in 1978 and grew to become the largest dance studio on the Oregon Coast. The studio, located in Newport’s historic Skating Rink, built in 1907, was remodeled into an updated, fully-equipped dance facility with 4 separate studios. After nearly 50 years of passion, artistry, and dazzling performances under the direction of Teri Jernigan, the studio is now under the care of Jessica Steenkolk and Kerry de Lisser-Shanks. In 2025, the studio, renamed Yaquina Barre Dance Studio, is striving to continue Teri’s mission and magic in our beachside community.
YBD offers classes from beginning to advanced levels of experience in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip- Hop, Ballroom, and Musical Theatre. There is also a fun Creative Dance option available for the little folks that are 3, 4, and 5 years of age.
