DRAWING THE FIGURE FROM LIFE:
Anatomy, Form, and Light with Jordan Essoe

Open to ages 18+
Students will be taught the basics of depicting the human figure in charcoal, including proportion, surface anatomy, muscle and skeletal landmarks, rendering shadows on form, and quality of mark making. Class instruction will include demonstrations, warm-up exercises, and group critiques, but the central 2 hours of each class will be dedicated to drawing from a live nude model. We will practice gesture drawing and working with short poses. One long pose or two medium length poses will complete each session. Students will leave each class with several drawings of the human figure.
