The purpose of the International Police Museum in Rockaway Beach is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret police culture, history, and heritage of the Rockaway Beach and Oregon police departments, as well as national and international police departments. We hope to foster appreciation, understanding, and respect of police through education and demystification of law enforcement by way of presentations and display of loaned and owned uniforms, equipment, and accouterments.
The museum features permanent exhibits that include male and female police officer uniforms, hats, badges, helmets, restraints, and an array of weapons. The museum also features a temporary exhibit that changes regularly. At the museum the family can enjoy learning about police communication, collection of evidence and fingerprints, and the importance of understanding the difference between a weapon used as a tool or one that is used as a threat. While at the museum try on a bullet proof vest, wear a constable’s hat or an officer’s tunic. Make sure to have your picture taken with our life-size display horse, uniforms, and behind the jail cell wall.
The International Police Museum is conveniently located on Hwy 101 in downtown Rockaway Beach. The museum is open Monday thru Friday 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
