October 7th
Hand Bound Sketchbooks & Tim Burton Style Self Portraits with Christina Carlsen
We will be kicking off our After-School classes by making our own hand bound and kid customized sketchbooks! Then each student will get to create a fun self portrait using the art of director Tim Burton (films include Nightmare before Christmas and The Corpse Bride) as our inspiration.
October 14th
Creative Collages with Marcy Kenyon
In this class students will explore the world of collage art by selecting imagery from magazines and other paper items provided and combining what they have found and cut out into a piece of art.
October 21st
Autumn Luminaries and Yarn Pumpkins with Jenny Newell
Get ready to dive into autumn with these fall themed projects for this class. Students will get to create their own candle luminaries with fallen leaves and weave a fuzzy pumpkin out of yarn.
October 28th
Homemade Taffy and Halloween Projects with Liz Fox
In this class we will be celebrating the spooky season with the students. They will get to learn all about making pulled taffy from scratch along with some other fun Halloween themed crafts.
November 4th
Make Your Own Cajon (part 1) with Alex Llumiquinga Perez
Students will get a chance to create their very own custom cajon (musical instrument) in this class. This will be a 3 part class to build and assemble their cajon. There will be additional activities around music and movement during these class sessions as students wait for glue to dry in-between steps.
November 11th
Make Your Own Cajon (part 2) with Alex Llumiquinga Perez
Students will resume working on their creations in this continuation from last week’s class.
November 18th
Make Your Own Cajon (part 3) with Alex Llumiquinga Perez
Expand your creation further in the continuation from last week’s class. This class students will be finishing their cajons and have the option to bring them to class on December 2nd to paint and decorate them.

Playing with Clay with Rena Ekmanis
In this class, students played with clay while Rena helped them create a handmade sculptural piece. They fired the pieces in our kiln and had the opportunity to glaze them in a later class.
All about Zines with Morgan Brothers
Students learned what a zine is and how to create one. Morgan also provided some fun writing prompts. Students created a story and turned it into a finished zine to take home.
Sketching the Wild with Christina Carlsen
Students learned the basics behind drawing their favorite animals. Christina demonstrated how to break down any animal into simple shapes. Also how to refine the drawing and develop it further by adding details and shading.
Bead Making Magic with Robin Berry
Students learned the magic of turning colorful papers into one-of-a-kind beads. Robin guided students in cutting, rolling, and sealing paper into vibrant beads. They practiced hand-eye coordination while creating personalized bracelets, key chains, or necklaces.
Botanical Exploration with Marcy Kenyon
Students learned a little science about flowers and pollinators as they worked on this art project. They built flowers from different materials and celebrated spring.
Introduction to Crochet with Randi Stevens
Students explored the world of fiber arts and also received an introduction to crochet and weaving. They worked with traditional crochet hooks, yarn, and needles, and also practiced basic weaving on small cardboard looms.
Fun with Color with Miguel Martinez
Students delved deep into the world of color for this class! Miguel walked them through the color wheel and color mixing. Students also learned to create their favorite color and name it.
Woven Wonders with Anna Biszantz
This class introduced our young artists to the ancient art of weaving. Students learned the “over-under” technique and enhanced fine motor skills. They also explored color, texture, and pattern-making on a small loom. They left with a finished, handmade piece of art and the skills to continue weaving at home.
Paper Marbling with Charlotte Van Zant King
In this class, students explored the art of marbling. They used paper and acrylic inks to create fun marbled designs. Additionally, they had a chance to decorate a t-shirt with their favorite marbled design.
