Coastal Arts Guild (CAG) and Oregon Coast Council for the Arts are sponsoring a drop-in figure drawing opporunity at the Newport Visual Arts Center.
This is a chance for artists of any skill level to experience figure drawing from life – with a live model. The model will be wearing fitted clothing and will begin with a series of quick gestures, followed by longer standing and seated poses. While the event will be facilitated by a CAG volunteer, who will be available to answer questions, participants should note that there will be no formal instruction.
Sunday, January 19th
2pm – 4pm at the Newport Visual Arts Center
Standing easels will be provided, and there will be a limited number of spaces for seated drawing at table-top easels, for those unable to work while standing. Participants are also welcome to work while seated in a chair with a sketchbook in their lap. Newsprint, 18″ x 24″ drawing boards, and charcoal will be available for free, or you are welcome to bring your own paper, drawing board, sketchbook, and/or other drawing implements. Ink and watercolor are permitted. No oil or acrylic paint, and no media with a strong odor will be allowed.
There is no fee to attend; however, a $5-$10 donation to the Coastal Arts Guild is requested (to help cover the model fee).
