The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts presented the 24th annual Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival on April 26-28. Book arts enthusiasts came to Newport for all-day workshops focusing on surface design, collage, paper arts, mixed media, assemblage and box artists. Award-winning festival instructors included Alicia Bailey, Casey Newman, Connie Stricks, Glenda Goodrich, Jeri Oswalt, John Arbuckle, Beth McIlraith, Kelley Salber, Laura Mitchell, Margo Klass, Moe Snyder, Randi Parkhurst and Sandi Reinke.
The Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival, presented by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, has grown into one of the largest festivals of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The festival is held annually in April and registration typically opens in early February. An annual feature is the instructors’ show, typically appearing in the Newport Visual Arts Center’s Upstairs Gallery. The 2019 Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival instructors show featured work by Alicia Bailey, Casey Newman, Connie Stricks, Glenda Goodrich, Jeri Oswalt, John Nelson Arbuckle, Beth McIlraith, Kelley Salber, Margo Klass, Moe Snyder and Sandi Reinke.
